Partial Knee Replacement

Mako Partial Knee Replacement

Suffering from painful knee arthritis and have conservative options failed? Is your pain stopping you from participating in your life, even waking you up at night? It may be time to schedule an appointment and discuss the option of a total knee replacement.

Central Virginia Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is pleased to now offer the latest innovation in partial knee replacement surgery using the Mako robotic-arm assisted technology. Dr. Holzknecht, Dr. Harding, and Dr. Tanner are all certified and the only orthopedic surgeons in the Fredericksburg area currently experienced in using this technology.

This partial knee replacement treatment option is designed to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration in a single compartment due to arthritis. With the new MAKOplasty system, CVOSM can offer patients a personalized surgical experience tailored to their individual alignment using the highest quality implants. Using a CT scan, the surgeon utilizes a 3D model of the knee to design an individualized surgical plan. The robotic arm allows the surgeon to achieve precise alignment with the implants, less cutting and drilling of the bone, and less soft tissue involvement. This leads to decreased pain and swelling after surgery, allowing the patient to experience a faster and easier recovery. Patients are also experiencing a shorter length of stay in the hospital and decreased need for opiate analgesics.
